Primorsko is an interesting destination due to the opportunities for beach holidays, but also because of its fascinating natural and historical landmarks. Some of the most astonishing reserves in Bulgaria are located near Primorsko. Impressive natural phenomena include the rock formation "The Lion’s Head," the fjords, "The Merry Rocks," the seal cave in Maslen Nos, and the bay "Sveta Parashkeva," which represents the longest fjord along our Black Sea coast, among many others.
Near Primorsko is the ancient Sanctuary of the Sun Cult, Beglik Tash. It covers an area of about 6 decares and consists of a central part and two smaller rock circles. This remarkable megalith can be compared to the world-famous ones. It’s worth visiting and experiencing something so ancient.
There are also four other sanctuaries in the area, 12 dolmens, and more than 10 necropolises.
The ruins of the ancient fortress Azine can be seen, as well as the remains of the mysterious city of Ranuli.
The eco-trail "Following the Romans" begins from the meadow near the Thracian sanctuary Beglik Tash. The trail is 2.4 km long, with a height difference of 140 meters. There are facts indicating that during antiquity there was a port at Maslen Nos, and the Romans used this route to reach it. Evidence of its existence includes numerous anchors and ceramics dated to that era.
Other historical landmarks include Vălchanovo Kale and the remains of the chapel "St. Paraskeva."
Modern landmarks near Primorsko:
A unique chapel in the Balkans, "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker," built 7 meters underwater. The temple is dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. It is located 5 km south of Primorsko, near Maslen Nos. The chapel can be reached by yacht departing from the Primorsko quay. Near the chapel, there is a plaque with the inscription "For an equal number." This has become a traditional greeting for divers – as many dives as exits. The chapel is made of 4 slabs. On one of the slabs, the saint is depicted, and near it is an altar made of ancient stone, with a massive cross and a candlestick where chemical sticks are lit instead of traditional candles. On the other slabs, there are various church motifs, a work by sculptor Nikola Dikov, and the chapel was consecrated by Father Gavrail. In this attractive temple, various ceremonies can be held, including civil and church weddings, baptisms, romantic encounters, anniversaries, birthdays, and exciting parties. This is organized in collaboration with the "Poseidon" Diving Center and the Municipal Diving Club of Primorsko, offering equipment, catering, underwater guides, and training.
The "Mermaid" sculpture is the symbol of the town of Primorsko. It can be seen from multiple angles, even from the sea.
The Cross in Primorsko embodies faith. The church in Primorsko is named after the two brothers Cyril and Methodius.
The Historical Museum of Primorsko is located in the city center. It displays cultural treasures found during archaeological excavations in the Primorsko municipality. The museum has spacious halls and a modern vault, secured with the highest protection. It houses a Thracian gold treasure.
If you head north, you can visit the unique castle in Ravadinovo. It is a contemporary creation in a romantic style. The impressive building is an attraction – a fairy-tale world for romantic walks and events.
